The media and especially movies offer us a image of hypnosis that creates a lot prejudices in us.
A hypnotist waving a pocket watch has complete control over a person or persons and they will do anything he tells them to do. From making funny voices, to stealing, or even murder.
These are myths that create an bad feelings in us. The truth is that in hypnosis you still have control over what you accept and what you reject, even though the mind works a little differently in it.
It is often about suppressing or bypassing critical thinking, thanks to which our mind is able to accept thoughts that it would otherwise reject with "rational/logical filters".
Fortunately, most of us have a "hidden observer/secret agency" inside us. It is a small secret agent (hidden observer) that listens and if someone tries to force an idea on us that is in direct conflict with our core values, it will reject it and even kick back and start our defense.
Now, it is necessary to realize that making a fool of oneself and making funny sounds probably does not really cause a problem for most of us and that is why it works so beautifully in "stage" hypnosis, where the hypnotist chooses a "volunteer" from the audience, who then does various stupid things. I would also like to note that the selection of this volunteer is often accompanied by suggestibility tests and the hypnotist chooses the one with whom he has the greatest chance of success for his "trick".
If you told a hypnotized person to steal someone else's wallet and bring it to you, it would probably contradict his moral system and beliefs and he would reject such a suggestion.
However, if you tell him in hypnosis that you forgot your wallet on the table and ask him to give it to you, there is a good chance that he will not subconsciously check whether the table is yours or whether it is your wallet.
So just as people can be manipulated in a waking state, they can also be manipulated in hypnosis.
So the question arises whether the real problem is hypnosis or the person you are trusting.
